Engine "product 177" with a thrust of 16,000 kgf suitable for the Su-75 Checkmate fighter

The dimensions of the power plant are suitable for a combat aircraft

The promising export light single-engine fifth-generation fighter Su-75 Checkmate may receive the "product 177" engine. The Tekhnosfera Rossiya publication came to this conclusion.

It noted that the "product 177" fits into the Su-75 in terms of its dimensions and has advantageous 6000 hours of service life and a maximum thrust of up to 16,000 kgf in afterburner. In addition, the "product 177" is suitable for export versions of the Su-75.

Prior to this, the media reported that Rostec, under the current contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, will supply part of the Su-57 aircraft with the second stage engine, also called "Product 30" — AL-51F1 with a nominal thrust of at least 11,000 kgf, in afterburner — up to 17,000 kgf.

Nevertheless, on Monday, December 22, Rostec announced the first flight of the Su-57 fighter with "product 177" engines. Prior to this, these combat vehicles were equipped with AL-41F1 or "Product 117" engines with a thrust of up to 15,000 kgf in afterburner. Also, according to representatives of the state corporation, the new unit has reduced fuel consumption in all modes and increased resource indicators.

Sukhoi Bureau instructor Sergei Bogdan noted that flight tests of the Su-75 Checkmate will take several years. He did not specify which engine was being tested on the fighter at that time.
