Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that no more than ten Oreshnik anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) of Russian-Belarusian production will be deployed on the country's territory. According to him, the complexes have already assumed combat duty in the republic.
Well, a dozen will be the maximum. Truly, that's the maximum.
Speaking at a session of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, Lukashenko refuted earlier reports that one of the complexes was allegedly deployed in the city of Slutsk. However, the president did not name the actual location.
Lukashenko noted that about half of the components of "Oreshnik" are produced directly in Belarus, which emphasizes the depth of bilateral military-technical cooperation between Minsk and Moscow.
Experts note that limiting the number of complexes to 10 units may be due to both tactical considerations and logistical and economic factors.
The deployment of "Oreshnik" on Belarusian territory strengthens regional air defense and demonstrates further integration of the defense structures of the Union State.
