Muscovites are less likely to get into accidents when driving into the oncoming lane

The number of such accidents in the capital has decreased by 10%

The number of road incidents related to driving into the oncoming lane has decreased in Moscow. This is reported by the Moscow Department of Transportation.

From January to November 2025, the number of accidents involving driving into the "oncoming lane" decreased by 4% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the number of victims in such accidents decreased by 58%.

Cameras record 5.1 million violations of lane markings, which is 22% less than last year. Of this number, only 10,000 cases are related to driving into the oncoming lane, and the remaining violations concern, for example, driving on the shoulder or turning left in prohibited places. Road complexes in Moscow, as specified by the Traffic Management Center, are capable of recognizing 66 types of violations.

In addition, the total number of accidents in the capital has decreased by 10% this year. The number of deaths in such accidents has also decreased. For comparison, in the Moscow region, the number of fatal accidents increased by 9%.
