Rostselmash has completed the technological import substitution phase in its line of ultra-high-power tractors. The new flagship, the 3580 model, will be equipped with a domestically produced 13-liter six-cylinder diesel engine manufactured by KamAZ.
Previously, the 3000 series tractors, introduced to the market in 2019, were equipped with 15-liter Cummins engines, including a 583 hp version. However, due to restrictions on the supply of foreign equipment, the company had to look for an alternative. After evaluating several options — including Chinese ones — the choice fell on the Russian engine.
The new engine from KamAZ is being developed not only for agricultural machines, but also for diesel locomotives and river vessels. Its mass production will be organized at the Tutaev Motor Plant (Yaroslavl Region), which is part of the KamAZ structure. The main customers will be Rostselmash and the Petersburg Tractor Plant, known under the brand "Kirovets."
The engine will work in tandem with an automatic transmission of Rostselmash's own design, created in cooperation with Bauman Moscow State Technical University. Currently, a prototype tractor is undergoing field tests in the Rostov region. According to the company's plans, a pilot batch will go into production in 2027.
