USC Completes Construction of RSD49 Project Universal Dry Cargo Vessel "Caspian Coast"

The vessel is equipped with Russian engines and an A1 class automated control system

At the Lotus production site of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), preparations are being completed for the delivery of the universal dry cargo vessel "Caspian Coast" of the RSD49 project. The vessel has already passed mooring and sea trials on the Volgograd Reservoir. The work is in its final stage — specialists are painting the hull and completing the inspection of the mechanisms.

RSD49 project vessel "Caspian Coast"

The "Caspian Coast" is designed for the transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and oversized cargo, including dangerous goods, in the waters of the Caspian, Black, Baltic, White and Northern Seas, as well as in the Mediterranean and Irish Seas in winter. The hold of the vessel opens with a hydraulic system of hawsehole covers in five minutes, which significantly speeds up loading and unloading.

The engine room of the dry cargo vessel is equipped with two Russian engines with a capacity of 1200 kilowatts each (about 1600 horsepower), which provide reliable traction and high maneuverability. The vessel's power system is controlled by the main distribution board, and the steering system allows you to quickly change course depending on the sailing conditions. The vessel control is automated according to class A1, which allows remote monitoring of the operation of the main engines without the constant presence of personnel in the engine room.

The captain of the vessel, Alexander Stupchenko, who previously served on similar vessels of the RSD49 project, noted the ease of operation and reliability of the new systems. According to him, dry cargo ships of this series have proven themselves well on routes along the Caspian, Black, Azov and Mediterranean Seas.
