The recall of almost 33.5 thousand Lada Granta cars may be related to a likely problem with the steering universal joint. This was reported by three informed sources.
Roman Timashov, Director of After-Sales Service at Avtodom, recalled that wear and tear of any steering element affects driving safety.
Nikita Rodionov, Technical Director of the Fit Service auto service chain, agrees that this is an additional risk. A faulty steering shaft universal joint can cause knocking, clicking and backlash, he added.
The worst case scenario is losing control of the car due to possible steering wheel jamming.
At the same time, one of the sources, who wished to remain anonymous, claims that not every car may have a malfunction. This is a potential risk. In addition, the degree of defect may vary, and it does not take much time to fix it.
AvtoVAZ declined to comment on the reason for the Lada Granta recall.
