The six-month training included a comprehensive study of onboard systems and practicing actions in various situations under the guidance of specialists from the Cosmonaut Training Center.
Arutyun Kiviryan was the first to pass the certification training. He demonstrated skills in servicing onboard systems, working with computer networks, and responding to abnormal and emergency situations. The training simulated a typical working day on the station, while instructors could create abnormal situations at any moment requiring prompt intervention.
The head of the integrated training laboratory for the ISS RS, Mikhail Anatsky, explained that the training checked the work with onboard systems, the implementation of routine and repair operations, as well as the ability of cosmonauts to identify and correctly respond to abnormal events.
Roscosmos noted Kiviryan's high readiness. In the coming weeks, his colleagues — Alexander Kolyabin and Sergey Teteryatnikov — will undergo certification training.
