Representatives of Russia and India have begun discussing the joint production of the SJ-100 narrow-body medium-range regional passenger aircraft and the Il-114 turboprop short-range aircraft. This was announced by Sergey Chemezov, General Director of the Rostec State Corporation.
In the civil sphere, Rostec is participating in negotiations for the first time.
Chemezov recalled that the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and the Indian Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) had previously signed a corresponding memorandum. At the same time, the details of the Russian-Indian agreements were not disclosed.
The Indian Masterminds publication previously reported that India will need over 200 civilian aircraft in the 2030s. In addition, another 350 aircraft are needed by countries in the Indian Ocean region. This is due to an increase in tourist flow.
