Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) has finally announced its position: electric vehicles are not included in the company's long-term plans in the near future. The focus of production is on expanding the model range of cars with traditional gasoline and diesel engines.
The production of an electric vehicle is not on the agenda of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in the near future, since the company is currently focused on expanding the range of modifications with traditional power units, as you know.
UAZ has experience in developing alternative power plants. In 1959, the company created an experimental model UAZ-450EM, designed to service airfields. It was based on the serial models UAZ-450 and UAZ-450A and became one of the first domestic examples of electric commercial transport.
Subsequently, special structures were organized at the enterprise: a design department, a laboratory, and a research bureau for electric vehicles. But the plant did not advance beyond this development.
