Rostec Launches Serial Production of "Vulkan" Reed Sensors for Nuclear Power Plants

"Vulkans" Do Not Require Power Supply and Can Operate for Up to 12 Years

The Roselectronica holding (part of Rostec) has launched serial production of Vulkan magnetic contact reed sensors, developed specifically for use in automation and signaling systems of nuclear power plants.

The devices are designed to operate in high-pressure steam pipelines and are capable of functioning in extreme temperatures — up to +350 °C.

A feature of the Vulkan sensors is their passive design: they do not require an external power supply, which significantly increases reliability and safety in critical areas of nuclear power plants. In addition, the products have high resistance to mechanical stress — accidental impacts or vibrations during operation do not affect their performance.

"Vulkan" has the first category of seismic resistance and remains functional even during earthquakes of maximum design intensity.

The stainless steel housing ensures a long service life — up to 12 years without the need for replacement or maintenance.
