MiG-31 "Caliber" carriers simply flew towards Poland and caused a stir

The planes did not leave Russian airspace

On the night of November 29, Polish air defense forces went on high alert. The reason was the actions of four Russian MiG-31 fighters, which allegedly headed for the country's borders.

But in fact, the Russian fighters did not even leave Russian airspace, but their maneuver in the western direction caused alarm in Warsaw.

In response, NATO put on alert two German Patriot complexes deployed at an airfield in Rzeszow, and also raised German Eurofighters into the sky for patrolling.

As a reminder, the MiG-31 is a carrier of hypersonic Kinzhal missiles. The systems entered permanent combat duty in August 2022 in Kaliningrad. Despite this, there is no detailed information about the combat system in the public domain.

It is known that the Kinzhal is based on the 9M723 Iskander-M aeroballistic missile. Preliminary, the range of the complex is about 2 thousand km, the maximum speed of the missile is up to 10 times the speed of sound.
