Hypersonic missile carrier "Zircon" frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" demonstrates combat readiness in the Indian Ocean

A detachment of Russian ships practiced tactics against surface and underwater adversaries

In the waters of the Indian Ocean, a Russian detachment of ships — the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov", the corvette "Gremyashchiy", and the tanker "Boris Butoma" — conducted comprehensive exercises, including live artillery fire and anti-submarine maneuvers.

As part of the exercises, the sailors practiced tactical scenarios for engaging surface targets of a mock enemy. The crews employed combat exercises using the 100-mm A-190 artillery system and rapid-firing AK-630M anti-aircraft systems, hitting training sea targets.

Special attention was paid to anti-submarine actions: the frigate and corvette jointly carried out a group search for an enemy submarine. Upon detecting an unidentified submarine, the ships launched a pursuit using unified tactics and successfully simulated forcing the submarine's crew to surface.

The exercises confirm the Russian fleet's ability to operate effectively in remote areas of the World Ocean, combining combat training, inter-ship cooperation, and logistical support — which is especially important in the context of growing competition for influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
