The Ministry of Defense of India has approved the purchase of five squadrons of S-400 "Triumph" anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and missiles for them from Russia. The department also supported the signing of a comprehensive annual contract for the maintenance of these complexes.
Russia will create a center for maintenance, repair and overhaul for the S-400 in India.
In addition, the Indian military department plans to acquire interceptors with a range of 100, 200, 250 and 380 km. The missiles should replenish stocks and create new reserves.
Five divisions of S-400 are up to 40 launchers. Recall that the standard composition of the S-400 division can be equipped with 8 launchers in the standard configuration.
At the same time, India has not yet decided on the proposal to acquire several squadrons of Su-57 fighters, but is considering modernizing a batch of 84 Su-30MKI fighters, in which Russia will take part.
According to preliminary data, the details of the defense agreements will be discussed in December during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India for the 23rd annual Russian-Indian summit.
