The Russian Su-57 fighter looks more presentable against the background of the American competitor F-35, remaining the only fifth-generation combat aircraft tested in real combat. This assessment was given by analyst Drago Bosnic.
According to him, the F-35 looks like a "laughingstock" against the background of the Su-57 due to news of high operating costs, endless technical problems, a number of reputational scandals and frequent accidents.
The Su-57 has demonstrated effectiveness, coping with tasks that would be beyond the power of many Western fighters, including the outdated F-16 and Mirage 2000-5. A wide range of specialized ammunition has been developed for the aircraft, including advanced hypersonic air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, which are not available for American and European counterparts.
Bosnic added that the characteristics of the Su-57 provide greater flexibility in tactical, operational and strategic use. He believes that any country seeking to maintain sovereignty will prefer the Russian fighter over the F-35.
At the Dubai Airshow - 2025 international exhibition in the UAE, the Su-57 and F-35 were on the same site and actually demonstrated their capabilities "face to face". Some of the footage from the flight program appeared online.
