Боеспособная, но «невостребованная» дома: судьба 2С31 «Вена» остаётся неопределённой

Russian Development Continues to Serve Abroad

At the military parade in Baku, the 120-mm self-propelled artillery and mortar system 2S31 "Vena" on the BMP-3 chassis was once again demonstrated — a model that has been in service with the Azerbaijani army for several years, but has not been adopted by the Russian army.

2S31 «Vena»

The 2S31 "Vena" is actively used in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and has previously been involved in combat operations, including operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. At the same time, the Russian troops, for whom the installation was originally developed, never received serial deliveries.

According to open data, only one prototype was spotted in the Russian army in September 2023, but information about its further use did not appear.

The appearance of the system at the parade in Baku once again reminded of its ambiguous fate and the lack of progress in equipping the Russian army.
