80 Times the Earth's Diameter: "Tsar Prominence" Detached from the Sun on November 20

Astronomers have not established the reason for the separation of the plasma formation from the star

The detachment of the giant prominence occurred at the Sun's north pole on November 20. This was reported by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF.

The size of the plasma formation at the moment of separation from the Sun exceeded one million kilometers, which is 80 times the diameter of the Earth.

What caused this activity is unknown. The source on the far side of the star is hidden from astronomers' observations.

There is a possibility that both events are related to the center 4274, where earlier occurred flares of the year X5.1 and X4.0.
