Russia will supply India with an export batch of SJ-100 before the likely launch of licensed production of the aircraft in the republic. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexei Gruzdev spoke about the details of this work.
According to him, the Russian side assesses the prospect of a memorandum on the production of SJ-100 aircraft in India very positively.
This project, if it reaches substantive agreements, will be implemented in stages, starting with the supply of a batch of finished aircraft, with a view to organizing licensed production, organizing after-sales service, and training specialists in the future. Of course, this will take time.
SJ-100 is a Russian short-haul narrow-body aircraft that is being created under the program of import substitution of onboard systems and components.
It is worth recalling that the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of the Rostec Group) will begin supplying import-substituted SJ-100s with PD-8 engines to Russian airlines only in 2026. At the same time, there is no information yet even about the timing of the completion of certification.
