«Geran-2» Updated Again: Drones Get Rear-View Cameras and Transmit Video via Radio Channel

Surveillance systems expand reconnaissance and maneuvering capabilities

The Geran-2 kamikaze drone has received a new technical upgrade — rear-view cameras. The image from these cameras is transmitted to the crews via a radio modem, the presence of which can be determined by the characteristic antennas located on the tail section of the aircraft.

The new optical modules allow operators to monitor the situation behind the drone and receive data about the flight corridor in real time.

It is assumed that the system is used to scout the possible location of air defense systems, as well as to perform evasive maneuvers in the face of the growing number of interceptor drones being used.

According to experts, the installation of cameras creates a more complete picture of the air situation and allows for a more accurate assessment of threats from all directions. This modernization may be part of a broader trend towards increasing the autonomy and "survivability" of loitering munitions, especially in areas of conflict saturated with detection equipment.

Earlier www.ru reported that ZALA will present the modernized Lancet-E.
