Прокуратура сообщила о снижении числа автоугонов в Москве

About 4,000 cameras have been installed in the capital to help find stolen cars

From January to October 2025, 146 cases of car theft were registered in Moscow, which is 38.1% less compared to last year. During this period, there was also a decrease in carjackings by 5.8%, to 195 cases. This is reported by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.

Carjacking and car theft constitute only a small part of crimes in Moscow. Thus, in the ten months of this year, 102.1 thousand crimes were recorded, which is 5.4% less than last year.

The number of car thefts in the capital has decreased almost 15 times since 2010. This became possible thanks to the introduction of analytical systems and video surveillance systems, as well as the interaction of the Moscow government with the police. Thus, about 4,000 photo and video recording cameras have been installed in the capital, which help to find stolen cars.

Law enforcement officials also reported that from January to October, 446 traffic violations occurred in Moscow, as a result of which a person either suffered serious harm to their health or died. This is 8.2% less than in January-October 2024.
