Ставки вниз, долги вверх: суды взыскали с россиян по кредитам более 8 трлн рублей за 10 лет

The number of cases of loan defaults has increased tenfold, and most decisions are made without hearings — in a simplified procedure

Over the past ten years (2015–2024), Russian courts of general jurisdiction have ruled to recover more than 8.3 trillion rubles from citizens under loan agreements, according to judicial statistics.

In total, 81 million cases of debt collection were filed in courts during this period, of which 78.8 million claims were fully or partially satisfied. In 90% of cases (70.8 million cases), decisions were made in a simplified order procedure — without court hearings.

At the same time, courts rejected 809,000 claims (about 1%), and another 365,000 cases were dismissed.

For comparison, in the previous decade (2005–2014), the number of such cases was almost ten times less — 8 million, and the total amount of recoveries amounted to 2.5 trillion rubles.

The dynamics show a sharp increase: if in 2005 the courts made 71,000 decisions for the amount of 8 billion rubles, then by 2010 their number increased to 725,000 cases for 359 billion rubles, in 2015 — to 2.5 million decisions for 771 billion rubles, and by 2024 it reached 14.8 million decisions for 834 billion rubles.
