The Venezuelan Air Force has released a video showing two Su-30MK2 fighters flying with Russian Kh-31 missiles suspended. Thus, Caracas demonstrated that military cooperation with Russia on modern military developments continues.
The release of the video sounded like a direct signal to Washington: any American naval groups off the Venezuelan coast must take into account the real threat of an air strike.
The appearance of the footage coincided with growing tensions between Venezuela and the United States. Against the backdrop of discussions of possible military scenarios, Caracas is in fact warning that, if necessary, the country's Air Force is ready to respond and defend the territory.
Kh-31 is a Russian air-to-surface missile of medium range. There are two main versions of the missile: anti-radar (Kh-31P) and anti-ship (Kh-31A). Such missiles are equipped on Su-34, Su-30, Su-35S, Su-27SM, Su-24M2 aircraft.
