The contract for the supply of Russian Su-35S generation "4++" fighters to Indonesia is still valid, Moscow is waiting for a response from Jakarta. This was announced by Russian Ambassador Sergei Tolchenov.
The contract has not been terminated. It is still on the agenda.
The diplomatic representative added that the Russian side expects Indonesia to resume the negotiation process on the previously concluded contract.
In 2021, Indonesian media reported that the authorities allegedly refused to purchase 11 Su-35S units due to a lack of budget funds.
The parties concluded a contract for the supply of combat aircraft back in 2018. In July 2019, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi, reported that the delay in implementation was due to the complexity of the trade scheme, which involves both government agencies and companies.
