Designer talks about the trick of the new "Tsar Bomba" with planning module and GPS

The modernized KAB-500S is capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 200 km

The Russian Armed Forces have received modernized guided aerial bombs KAB-500S. Designer and candidate of technical sciences Igor Vasiliev revealed the secret of the characteristics of the new ammunition.

According to him, the aerial bombs "show great potential and effectiveness in hitting targets in the tactical depth, and in the West they have already been dubbed 'Tsar Bombs'."

Universal planning and correction modules (UMPC) were attached to half-ton iron "barrels" with powerful explosives. And this includes an electronic homing head and correction of the flight path from a satellite. And so yesterday's heavy "lump" turned into a high-precision munition.

Vasiliev added that aircraft can drop KAB-500S at a range of up to 200 km to the target, avoiding entering the zone of operation of air defense systems.
