The pre-styling Lada Niva Travel was equipped with a factory snorkel — an air intake pipe extended upwards to provide the engine with non-dusty air, but the updated version of Lada Niva Travel does not have it due to the technical features of the changes made.
Let us remind you that the changes affected a significant part of the Lada Niva Travel's components: the car received a completely new 1.8-liter 90-horsepower engine, a reinforced transmission, new front disc brakes from the Lada Vesta model, and a modified front suspension.
In the previous design, the air filter was located on the left side, and the snorkel was also there. Now the filter is on the right, the air intake is under the right headlight. That is, it is impossible to install the previous snorkel.
In fact, the part needs to be manufactured from scratch, which does not allow the snorkel to be produced from the factory. Additional intake resistance also makes itself felt, which requires a cycle of recalibrations — both of the engine and the connection with the transmission.
In addition, in accordance with the toxicity requirement, the car with a snorkel must be re-certified.
