Specialists from the Baltic Shipyard USC and contractors have connected the icebreaker to the shore network through a complex of cable lines and transformer equipment. Power was supplied in stages: after checking the readiness of the systems, energy was supplied to the receiving switchboards in the bow and stern of the vessel, and then to the main distribution boards (MDB).

The works are aimed at checking the operability of ship systems, mechanisms, the quality of installation works and the tightness of the premises.

During the tests, special attention will be paid to checking the main power plant, which includes two water-cooled nuclear reactors with a capacity of 175 MW each, as well as their servicing mechanisms and safety systems.

The icebreaker Chukotka is the fourth serial (fifth in a row) universal vessel of Project 22220. The contract for its construction was concluded between FSUE Atomflot, which is part of the Rosatom State Corporation, and the Baltic Shipyard in August 2019.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the second residential block was installed on the nuclear icebreaker Chukotka.
