AvtoVAZ has announced a voluntary recall of 8,209 Lada X-ray vehicles manufactured from October 8, 2021, to April 29, 2025. The purpose of the campaign is to retrofit the cars with control units for the emergency call system (SVEOS). All work will be carried out at the manufacturer's expense, and owners will not incur any additional costs, according to Rosstandart.
The program has been agreed upon with the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology. The recall applies to vehicles with specific VIN codes, which are published in the appendix to the program.
The SVEOS equipment allows the car to automatically or manually contact the ERA-GLONASS system operator in the event of an accident or other critical situations. Communication is carried out through a built-in microphone and loudspeaker, and the system transmits the coordinates and severity of the accident to emergency services.
Since 2017, all new and imported cars in Russia have been equipped with an SOS button connected to ERA-GLONASS. The built-in system helps reduce response times in accidents and improves the safety of drivers and passengers.
Previously, AvtoVAZ had already retrofitted 22,000 Lada Vesta cars with a similar system free of charge.
