Earlier, Trump Called the Idea of Building a Tunnel Across the Bering Strait Interesting

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has begun developing a feasibility study for a tunnel project that will connect Russia and the United States via the Bering Strait. This was announced by the head of the fund, Kirill Dmitriev, on social network X, noting that work on the project has been underway for six months.

He previously stated that the construction cost, taking into account modern technologies, would not exceed $8 billion, and the project could take at least eight years to complete.

RDIF already has experience in financing international transport projects. Dmitriev recalled the first railway bridge in history between Russia and China, which was successfully implemented by the fund.

The Bering Strait tunnel project has been under discussion for over a decade. It aims to connect the transport systems of Eurasia and North America, opening up new routes for freight transport and stimulating economic cooperation between the continents.

US President Donald Trump also expressed interest in the project, calling the idea of a "Putin-Trump tunnel" "interesting" the day before.
