New backpack-type elevator developed by Serpukhov Elevator Plant

The main feature of the elevator is the ability to make cabins passable, with exits on two or three sides

Serpukhov Elevator Plant (SLZ), which is part of the Sadovoye Koltso group of companies, has successfully completed the development of a new type of elevator - a backpack elevator. According to the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region, the elevator is capable of transporting goods up to 1000 kg.

The development took 8 months. Its design saves space, uses lightweight materials for the shaft and makes cabins with several exits. For example, in a shopping center or hotel, where the elevator is located at the intersection of corridors, this design simplifies movement and makes the space more convenient for visitors.

Unlike traditional elevators, where the guides for the cabin and counterweight are located on different walls of the shaft, in the backpack system they are all located on one wall. This solution reduces the size of the shaft, which is especially important for buildings where every meter of space counts. One of the main features of the elevator is the ability to make cabins passable, with exits on two or even three sides, including corner exits at 90 degrees.
