Kaspersky Lab Experts Reveal Phone Scammers' Tactics

Scammers use psychological manipulation to deceive victims

Phone scammers are skilled manipulators and psychologists with well-honed speech. This was stated by Anton Ivanov, Technical Director of Kaspersky Lab, at the Finopolis forum. He spoke about the characteristic techniques of attackers.

Scammers often try to isolate their victims from other people, asking them to move to a separate room for a quiet conversation. They may even say: "If someone enters the room, please tell them, and I will call you back in 10 minutes. Don't talk to anyone."

Ivanov stated that attackers may refer to non-existent articles of the Criminal Code, threatening the victim.

Scammers use constant pressure, communicate in a confident voice. Unprepared people can succumb to this.
