Signs of the use of generative artificial intelligence in student works have been found in 24% of cases, which is four times higher than last year, according to a study by the Antiplagiat company.
The study was conducted on the basis of 7 million checks of more than 2 million student works for the period from January to September. Traces of AI use were recorded in 24% of texts relative to the 2024 figure, when it was 17.8%, while in 2023 only 5.3% of works were written using AI.
Despite this, the level of plagiarism decreased from 30% to 21.7%, and the average amount of work increased from 45 to 48 pages. Experts note that students are less likely to blindly copy ready-made texts and more often use neural networks to edit and refine their own materials.
The introduction of artificial intelligence has affected all Russian universities. Among graduate qualification works, the proportion of texts with signs of generation was 22.7%. In the top 10 universities, this figure is 16%, and in the second ten - about 25%.
Most often, AI is used by students in the humanities and social sciences - 26.5%, technicians use neural networks in 13.4% of cases, and students in natural sciences - 10.4%.
