Russian light transporters of the "Ulan" series, distinguished by the use of chassis from civilian vehicles, have received a new addition. "Ulan-2" vehicles, built on the basis of the popular "Sobol" van, have begun to appear in the Russian army.
The new all-terrain vehicle has retained the recognizable features of its predecessor -the "Niva-Ulan" transporter, but has received a number of significant improvements aimed at increasing efficiency and adapting to modern requirements. The "Ulan-2" inherited the simplicity of design, reliability, and ease of maintenance from the "Sobol", which makes it a cost-effective solution for performing a wide range of tasks in the field.
The main advantage of using the "Sobol" platform is its widespread availability and the availability of spare parts, which greatly simplifies logistics and repair. In addition, the civilian origin of the chassis ensures a relatively low cost of production and operation.
"Ulan-2" is designed to transport personnel, cargo, and equipment in off-road conditions and rough terrain. The vehicle can be equipped with various additional equipment, such as radio stations, communication and navigation systems, as well as light weapons for self-defense.
The technical characteristics of the new product have not yet been disclosed.
