A new air-launched ammunition with a range of 120 kilometers has been developed for the Russian military. This was reported by the authors of the Telegram channel RVvoenkor.
The ammunition used is a "hybrid between a missile and a bomb", resembling guided aerial bombs with a jet engine that fly "much more accurately and further".
The carrier of the ammunition is still unknown. There are suggestions online that it could be modernized "Banderol" or "Grom-1" missiles.
X-38 missiles are launched from the suspension units of Su-34NVO or Su-35S fighters. The speed of the ammunition exceeds 400 - 450 m/s even in the far zone of the radius of destruction, which is due to the use of dual-mode dual-pulse engines with profiling of the cross-section of solid propellant charges.
