Equipment for the "nuclear island" of the Paks-2 NPP in Hungary will be supplied by Rosatom

Hungarian audit specialists have confirmed that the equipment for the "nuclear island" of the Paks-2 NPP meets all the necessary requirements. This is reported by the press service of Rosatom.

Auditors from Paks II Ltd. conducted a systematic supervisory audit of the machine-building division of the Rosatom State Corporation to coordinate the supply of equipment for the "nuclear island" of power units No. 5 and No. 6 of the Paks-2 NPP, which is under construction in Hungary.

JSC Paks-2 provided Rosatom with a document confirming full compliance with the requirements of Paks II Ltd. for the supply of nuclear steam generating plant (NSGP) equipment to the nuclear power plant.

Currently, the enterprises of the Rosatom Machine-Building Division are manufacturing VVER-1200 reactors for two power units of the Paks-2 NPP under construction. The manufacturing of metallurgical blanks for power unit No. 5 began in 2024, and for power unit No. 6 in 2025. Also in 2025, the manufacturing of in-core devices for the reactor of power unit No. 5 began.

VVER-1200 is a water-cooled power reactor (VVER) of generation III+. Reactor power: electrical — 1200 megawatts (MW), thermal — 3200 MW.
