Мошенники стали использовать новую схему с цифровым рублем для обмана россиян

Under the guise of banks and the social fund, fraudsters demand to "activate a wallet"

With the start of the practical implementation of the digital ruble in Russia, scammers have begun to use a new fraud scheme. Under the guise of employees of banks or the Social Fund of Russia, they call citizens receiving social benefits and demand to "activate a digital ruble wallet" or "transfer payments to a new form." The purpose of such calls is to steal details for access to banking applications, Moshellovka notes.

Experts attribute the increase in such cases to the launch of the digital ruble for social payments on October 1. The lack of awareness of citizens about the new form of national currency creates fertile ground for fraudsters.

Often, victims trustingly transmit codes from SMS, PIN codes and passwords, believing that they are following official instructions.

Moshellovka emphasizes that no additional actions are required from citizens to receive payments in digital rubles. Real employees of banks and the social fund never request passwords and one-time codes.

The Bank of Russia publishes up-to-date information about the digital ruble. In addition, www1.ru regularly shares important information about the new digital form of money.
