At Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), an innovative module for small CubeSat spacecrafts is being developed, which will provide data transfer rates of at least 1 Gbps. This was reported by the university's press service.
The main idea is to use new signal-code structures that allow achieving high transmission speeds under the harsh power consumption conditions of small spacecraft. We have developed an optimal signal technology adapted to the limitations of transmitting and receiving modules placed in space.
A significant increase in data transfer speed will allow satellites to transmit useful information faster. The modem has functionality for synchronizing the time of ground stations. This is critical for high-precision navigation, especially in the context of the Northern Sea Route.
The modem prototype testing will take place in the near future.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the SG3 platform in CubeSat format was presented in Russia.
