Gref Warned of the Imminent Arrival of Artificial Superintelligence Capable of Solving Humanity's Insoluble Problems

The head of Sberbank believes that in a decade, the world will face a fundamentally new reality

At the Moscow Startup Summit, the head of Sberbank, German Gref, stated that within the next decade, humanity may encounter not only artificial general intelligence (AGI) but also artificial superintelligence (ASI). According to him, such systems are capable of changing the course of history by solving problems that are considered insoluble today.

In the next 10 years, we will see at least AGI. And possibly superintelligence. This is something that will actually solve humanity's unsolvable problems. In particular, the remaining seven mathematical equations and a huge number of other tasks

He emphasized that such rapid technological development carries a dual perspective: on the one hand, enormous opportunities for science, industry, and transport, and on the other, challenges that society must prepare for today. "This is a gigantic challenge for us: how we will coexist with it, how we will manage it. But it is also breakthrough opportunities — the creation of new technologies, materials, means of transport," — said the head of Sber.

According to Gref's forecast, in the next 2–3 years, physical artificial intelligence will enter everyday life and the sphere of simple services. Robots will be able to perform the work of unskilled personnel — sweeping streets, preparing food, performing the functions of assistants in service. This, in his opinion, will lead to large-scale changes in the labor market and the transformation of entire industries.
