Rosatom manufactured the 80th export reactor and sent it to the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey

Likhachev: In total, the state corporation has created 250 reactors for nuclear power plants

The water-water power reactor (VVER-1200), the vessel of which was shipped by Rosatom to Turkey for the Akkuyu NPP, has become the 80th export reactor. This was announced by the General Director of the State Corporation, Alexey Likhachev, at the opening of the international forum "World Atomic Week" in Moscow.

According to Likhachev, Rosatom has produced a total of 250 reactors, including those supplied abroad.

The head of the state corporation launched the simultaneous shipment of two VVER-1200 reactor vessels for the Akkuyu and El-Dabaa NPPs on September 25. Protective shells were manufactured by Rosatom's machine-building enterprises — Izhora in St. Petersburg and Atommash in Volgodonsk.

About Rosatom's projects in Turkey and Egypt

In mid-September, the General Director of Akkuyu Nuclear, Sergei Butskikh, announced the start of the process of commissioning the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP. Workers are carrying out commissioning works, checking equipment and preparing it for safe operation. The exact timing of the launch of Unit No. 1 is not specified. In total, 4 power units with a total capacity of 4800 MW will operate at the Turkish NPP.

Rosatom is also building the first NPP for Egypt — El-Dabaa. 4 power units with VVER-1200 reactors will be built here. According to the terms of the contract, the state corporation will supply Egypt with nuclear fuel for the plant. The first El-Dabaa reactor is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028.
