Мошенничество под маской курьеров: злоумышленники придумали новую схему обмана

Attackers are adapting their "stories" to the usual scenarios of goods delivery for victims

Recently, fraudsters have started actively using the name of the courier service SDEK to deceive Russians. This was stated by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications. According to him, the attackers pose as couriers and adapt their stories to the delivery scenarios that people are used to.

If earlier, attackers most often pretended to be employees of banks, prosecutors, or the Central Bank, now they have switched to logistics companies, with which most Russians regularly interact. Scammers try to gain the trust of Russians, as most have experience receiving parcels.

The peculiarity of the new scheme is that it is based on familiar life situations. For example, a person may be expecting delivery from a marketplace and will not doubt a call from an alleged courier. The task of the fraudsters is to obtain a confirmation code from the victim via SMS, which opens access to the banking account or the public services portal.

Nemkin emphasized that no courier service requests secret codes remotely. All checks occur only at the time of the actual transfer of the parcel. Any such request should be perceived as a signal of fraud. In such a situation, the deputy recommends immediately ending the conversation and independently calling back the official delivery service at the number listed on the website.
