Geely Recalls Approximately 18,000 Emgrand Sedans in Russia Due to Fuel Tank Issues

Replacement of ventilation valves and fuel system components at the manufacturer's expense

The Russian division of the Chinese auto concern Geely — LLC "Geely-Motors" — is recalling 17,736 Emgrand sedans sold since November 2023 due to possible fuel tank defects, according to Rosstandart.

The issue is related to the ventilation valve built into the filler neck cap. Under certain driving conditions, it may not function correctly, creating a vacuum in the system. In rare cases, this leads to deformation of the fuel tank and contact of the fuel pump components with its inner surface, which can damage the tank.

As part of the recall, all vehicles covered by the program will have the filler neck cap checked and replaced if necessary, and the condition of the ventilation system and fuel tank will be assessed. If damage is detected, the components will be replaced completely. All work is carried out free of charge for owners.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will receive notifications by mail or telephone from LLC "Geely-Motors" indicating the nearest dealer center. You can also independently check whether the car is subject to recall on the Rosstandart website or through the Auto.ru service.
