At the "Zapad-2025" exercises, Russian and Belarusian servicemen practiced deploying the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM). The strike practice was conducted in the form of mathematical calculations, explained Major General (Ret.) Vladimir Popov.
According to him, the scale of the territories does not always allow to practice launching at a specific training ground.
During digital modeling, the division launches its missiles at pre-set coordinates, and they, in theory, can be any.
As a rule, during exercises, not one, but several missiles are launched in digital form. Sometimes four to six at once. A large group strike is played out.
Popov added that real missiles are rarely launched during exercises because it is expensive.
Well, if a real missile strikes a training ground, then, based on the accuracy of its hit, an assessment is given to all participants.
Colonel (Ret.) Alexander Tikhansky also revealed the secret of why the Oreshnik MRBM has not yet been shown live. According to him, military personnel who understand the topic will understand everything themselves, so there is no point in demonstrating the system.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that MiG-31BM interceptors were used in tandem with Tu-22M3 bombers.
