The Yandex team has significantly expanded the range of topics that their proprietary assistant "Alice," based on artificial intelligence, can help with. The neural network used to be able to explain math and physics problems on the Yandex search page, and now it is ready to support users in learning Russian and English, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science.
The company noted that in addition to adding new subjects, Yandex has also improved the quality of responses by 30% compared to the previous version of the model. The neural network can explain step-by-step solutions to school problems directly in "Search," even if the relevant information is not available on the Internet. For example, teachers, students, and their parents can ask "Alice" to write a simple computer science program, analyze the grammar of the past tense, or explain a genetics problem.
In addition, "Alice" in "Search" helps to prepare for writing essays in Russian language and literature. The neural network offers advice on the structure of the work and methods for formulating an opinion about a work or event. Graduating students can use "Alice" to prepare for the final essay, receiving recommendations on how to draw up a text plan and choose works as arguments.
Yandex trained the neural network on the basis of thousands of examples of exercise analysis created in collaboration with mathematicians, editors, and school teachers. Users can also rate Alice's explanations with "likes" and "dislikes," and leave comments. These reviews will be taken into account in the further training of the neural network, which will improve the quality of the responses provided.
