Russian tanks have been protected with passive armor against kamikaze drones with fiber optic control. This was reported by the commander of a tank battalion with the call sign Diplomat.
According to him, the soldiers install a protective dome on the side of the tank, which can withstand hits from several dozen UAVs without damaging the armor of the combat vehicle.
We came to a modified tank body, we make a light weld from corners so that the machine does not lose its combat capability. We don’t weigh it down too much. Then we weld ropes and fluff them up. We make so-called " ромашки" (chamomiles), some call them "ёжики" (hedgehogs).
The commander explained that this protection is very effective, since when approaching the tank, the drone detonates on the cables and the cumulative jet loses its effectiveness at a distance from the vehicle body. In total, the system can withstand up to 20 drone hits.
In addition, the " ромашки" are specially designed to protect the tank's armor from fiber optic drones. Electronic warfare is only used with those UAVs that perform the task at certain frequencies, Diplomat concluded.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Oreshnik missile turned out to be lighter than the Yars: it will fly to the target from near space.
