The National Space Center (NSC) opened in Moscow on September 13 on the territory of the Khrunichev State Space Research and Production Center (GKNPTs). The opening ceremony was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the tour of the center, Putin visited an exhibition of spacecraft. The tour was conducted by Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov. The head of state inspected models of the Lunokhod-2 self-propelled laboratory, the Venera-7 automatic interplanetary station, and the descent vehicle of the Soyuz-MS-25 spacecraft.
Then, a communication session was held at the NSC with Russian cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov, Alexei Zubritsky, and Oleg Platonov, who are on a mission at the International Space Station (ISS).
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also took part in the event. According to him, with the opening of the NSC, work on this site will continue.
This is the beginning of the reorganization of this entire depressed industrial zone, which is largely not in demand.
A modern innovative industrial park of 1.5 million square meters will be built on this territory. There will be technology parks, educational centers, and a college for training specialists in the space industry. In addition, 22 Moscow organizations of the rocket and space industry will move to the NSC.
