In the Arctic Ocean, scientists extracted an automatic buoy station from a depth of about two kilometers. This device has been conducting underwater research for four years. This was reported by the press service of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI).
During its operation, the station collected unique data on changes in water temperature and salinity at various depths, as well as on currents and ice conditions in this region of the Arctic. The information obtained will allow scientists to more accurately model the processes occurring in the Arctic Ocean and predict climate change in the Arctic region.
The work was carried out from the research vessel "Akademik Treshnikov" during its transition to the drifting station "North Pole-42". According to preliminary estimates, all station devices have retained their functionality, and the recorded data has not been damaged.
