Russia Plans to Develop New Aircraft Model Based on An-124

A new engine will need to be created to construct the cargo plane

A military expert has suggested the development of a new transport aircraft. One reason for this may be the upcoming replacement of engines on An-124 "Ruslan" aircraft, as they were produced at the Ukrainian enterprise "Motor Sich". In addition, Russia is considering creating a new model based on the An-124 design.

The specialist noted that the construction of a new cargo aircraft requires the creation of a new power unit. The existing developments of PD-26 and PD-35 engines may be useful in this.

At the same time, it is necessary to create a future assembly line, train engineering and technical personnel, and machine tool specialists who will build the turbine. The blades of the inlet compressor and the turbine itself are especially difficult to manufacture. For this, metal-ceramic coatings are used, as well as various titanium alloys.
Vladimir Popov, Major General, Honored Military Pilot

Popov believes that now it is necessary to take unique developments from the reserves of the aerospace industry and implement them more boldly.

"Russian brands must be revived, they must sound everywhere, so that the world knows that we never stood on our knees before the West," the interlocutor emphasized.

Earlierwww1reported onhow the world's largest aircraft in aviation history, the An-225 "Mriya", was created and whether it will be replaced.
