The share of the automotive industry in the Tula region has increased sixfold in the last three years, reaching 12.7% in the region's economy. This was announced to journalists by the first deputy governor, Mikhail Panteleev. According to him, this became possible due to the growth in production at the Haval plant.
The plant was launched in 2019, and an engine plant was opened in 2024. Last year, more than 130,000 cars rolled off the assembly line. The company already employs about 4,500 people. Last year, the investment volume amounted to about 11 billion rubles.
Haval is not going to stop there. The plans include further localization of production, including the creation of a complex for automotive components and transmissions. 30 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes, which will create an additional 1,000 jobs.
According to Panteleev, in addition, a memorandum was signed on the creation of a new enterprise in the machine tool industry between "Energomash" and the Chinese company "Weida". The first phase of the project will require investments of 1 billion rubles and will create 20 new jobs.
China continues to be an important partner of the Tula region in the field of foreign trade and investment. In 2024, foreign trade turnover with China amounted to 2.25 billion dollars, an increase of 12% compared to 2023. This underscores the growing interest of Chinese business in the region and its economic opportunities.
