Мантуров: Российская школа фотоники входит в число мировых лидеров

The First Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Russian scientific school in this field continues to actively develop

Russia is among the world's leaders in the development of photonics and laser systems. This statement was made by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov in an interview with TASS General Director Andrei Kondrashov. The conversation took place on the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum.

Manturov noted that the Russian scientific school in this field continues to actively develop, maintaining the positions laid down in the Soviet period. Photonics is a section of quantum physics and studies the interaction with optical signals, as well as the practical application of light particles — photons.

Speaking about our school of photonics and laser systems — both in Soviet times and now, we are actively developing it and are among the world leaders in this area.
Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

Research in this area allows creating high-speed computing systems, similar to quantum computers. In addition, the knowledge of scientists is used to develop laser installations that are used to study the properties of matter, plasma, the structure of matter, and experiments in the field of controlled thermonuclear fusion.

The announcement was made on the eve of the X Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held in Vladivostok from September 3 to 6. The event is expected to bring together more than 4.5 thousand participants from 70 countries.
