The engine for the high-speed train was presented at the «Pro//Motion.Expo» exhibition.
The TAD650 engine was developed by the company «Russian Electric Motors» (a subsidiary of «Transneft»). The unit's power is 650 kW, and its weight is 750 kg. The nominal shaft rotation speed is 5900 rpm, and the efficiency is at least 95%.
Ivan Nekhoroshkov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Design at Russian Electric Motors, noted that this engine is the "heart" of a promising high-speed train. The seventh sample of the power unit was shown at the exhibition.
We have now passed preliminary tests. All these tests have confirmed all the technical characteristics laid down by our specialists at «Russian Electric Motors». That is, this is a completely Russian development, and accordingly, we did not use any imported analogues. This is entirely our brainchild.
Mass production of the unit is scheduled to begin in 2026. The expected annual output is 200 units.
A series of 43 high-speed electric trains is planned, and it turns out that each electric train has 16 such electric motors.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the high-speed train in the future will be controlled by AI.
