Russian Orlan reconnaissance drones have received a rear-view camera for the first time. The new feature is necessary to protect the devices from interceptor drones.
Footage has appeared online of a module with a camera to monitor the rear hemisphere of the device, which is being attacked by FPV drones.
The reconnaissance devices have been equipped with defense systems that allow them to automatically evade attacks.
The "Орлан-30" is an improved version of the Orlan-10 aircraft-type UAV. The complex's flight duration has been increased to 18 hours.
Another feature of the drone is its integration into the fire control system of the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer; the drone is capable of adjusting the gun's fire and transmitting the coordinates of detected targets. Orlans are also used in guiding Iskander missile systems.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that five nuclear submarines in Russia will be converted to carry Kalibr, Tsirkon, and Onyx missiles.
