Sechenov University has announced the creation of an innovative chewing gum called "Reterix" by students, designed to improve oral health. Thanks to its content of probiotics and prebiotics, it helps normalize microflora and reduces the likelihood of caries and gingivitis.
An interdisciplinary team of dental students, pharmacists, and managers from the First Moscow State Medical University created the innovative chewing gum "Reterix" as part of a research practice where students gain knowledge by working on real products. The uniqueness of "Reterix" lies in its composition, which includes probiotics and prebiotics. The product is intended not only for daily oral care but also for effective protection against dental diseases by normalizing the microbial balance.
The project was a collaborative effort between dental students, pharmacists, and managers. In just ten sessions, the team not only developed the product concept but also independently manufactured the first samples at the university's pilot production facility. Anna Turkina from the Institute of Dentistry shared that the participants successfully coped with the task, relying solely on the advice of their mentors.
The process of creating the gum included several stages: selection and mixing of ingredients, pressing, as well as packaging and labeling. Students strived to achieve a soft texture to compete with popular brands.
